Waiting On Wednesday (29): Sever by Lauren DeStefano

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, in which bloggers talk about the books they are most eager for!

This Week's Pick: Sever (The Chemical Garden Trilogy #3) by Lauren DeStefano
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Release Date: February 12th, 2013

With the clock ticking until the virus takes its toll, Rhine is desperate for answers. After enduring Vaughn’s worst, Rhine finds an unlikely ally in his brother, an eccentric inventor named Reed. She takes refuge in his dilapidated house, though the people she left behind refuse to stay in the past. While Gabriel haunts Rhine’s memories, Cecily is determined to be at Rhine’s side, even if Linden’s feelings are still caught between them.

Meanwhile, Rowan’s growing involvement in an underground resistance compels Rhine to reach him before he does something that cannot be undone. But what she discovers along the way has alarming implications for her future—and about the past her parents never had the chance to explain.

In this breathtaking conclusion to Lauren DeStefano’s Chemical Garden trilogy, everything Rhine knows to be true will be irrevocably shattered.

*cries* *pleads with world* Guys, I need this book. It's hurting me not to have it. Although, it'll no doubt hurt me when I have it as well. I'm going to be so so sad to see this trilogy come to an end. It's one of my favorites. The writing in these novels is absolutely beautiful. It's musical and poetic, and keeps me enchanted every time. The storyline is terrifying and brutal but with small slivers of hope woven in. Lauren DeStefano is a brilliant story-teller, and I can't wait to read about how she brings this haunting tale to an end.

If you haven't read the Chemical Garden Trilogy, I highly recommend them (check out my review of Wither here)! A gorgeously told story and one I completely love.

- Ciara (Lost at Midnight)

P.S. Update! I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Sever at the Ontario Blogger Meet-Up! So, I'll be reading it very soon!
